So as I mentioned, we recently switched some things up.
This is a lot like decluttering, right? This practice of looking at the systems and the rhythms that we have to see if they’re still working for us.
Maybe they need a complete overhaul, or maybe they just need a little refresh.
Need A New Laundry Routine?
For us, our laundry was starting to get bottlenecked at the sorting and folding phase. We have three girls, and while they’re a few years apart, it’s not always easy to tell whose clothes are whose as they get older and as the clothes get passed down.
And socks are a whole other conundrum. Maybe you can relate?
Anyway, I remember a girlfriend telling me that they do laundry by the person per person. Instead of throwing everyone’s clothes in a load or two, they simply wash everyone’s clothes separately. Up until this point, that didn’t really make sense for us.
Quick Laundry Tips To Help You Simplify Mom Life
But more recently, with this bottleneck at the sorting and folding, I decided to bring the idea to my husband, and he was up for it. He was up for doing this little experiment to see if this might be a better way for us to hand our laundry in this season.
So we played with some of the pieces and it turns out this is working really well for us. So we do a few smaller loads of laundry, one per person, and the clothes are already sorted and they simply need to be folded and popped into the drawers and voila our laundry is done.
Tips & Hacks – Laundry For Kids
I have three kiddos and my youngest recently turned five. My kids are getting a little older and they are amazing helpers around the house. They can also help to put away their laundry. So this might not be the season that you’re in right now and that’s totally okay.
Wherever you are, simply allow yourself to get curious and see what might work better for you in this season, not just for your laundry, but for whatever areas of life that feel a little stale or places you’re feeling stuck and you need a refresh.
I invite you to explore and simply play with ideas and see what feels good to you in this season.
